My Legion of Collectors Superfan Spotlight!

I was selected as the most recent Legion of Collectors Superfan!

Check out my mini interview and some pictures of my collection on their website: https://legionofcollectors.com/legion-of-collectors-superfan-spotlight-tiffany-han/

If you're not as familiar with the company,  Legion of Collectors is a DC Comics bi-monthly mystery subscription box that features exclusive DC Funko Pops. You can check out my previous Legion of Collectors blog posts here for more details on what's been included in previous boxes.

This is super exciting! I'm not sure how many people actually apply to be featured, but it seems like they select one person every week or every few weeks. I've actually applied to be featured once before but failed to provide appropriate photos so I had Mickey help me with my mini photoshoot the 2nd time around and not too long later (maybe a couple or a few weeks out), I'm on their blog! Whoo!

They even emailed me to confirm that I was featured. They asked me for my address so that they could send me a Mystery Proto prize, which should be arriving later this week (I was really quick to respond. Hah). Mystery Protos are actual prototypes of their products and are usually relatively pricey due to their rare nature. I don't own any as of right now so I'm looking forward to adding one to my collection! I hope it's a Batman related proto!

I thought about waiting for my prize to arrive before blogging about this, but I'm riding the wave right now and I'm too excited. I'll be sure to edit my post with a photo of the prize later this week. Make sure to follow me on social where I will likely be sharing it as well (links to your left).

Funko even shared the news on their social pages! Click through to check out the posts on their Facebook and Twitter. I've also included some quick screenshots below. Unfortunately, I didn't get a shout out on their Instagram page and no Batman and Whiskey tags or shout outs despite sharing my social handles with them (womp), but I'll take it. I love that I have friends who discovered it organically before I even shared it. Just goes to show that I know a bunch of fellow nerds.

Now, I bask in my 15 minutes seconds of fame and wait for my prize. In the mean time, here are a few more photos from the mini photoshoot that didn't make the Legion of Collectors blog:

[EDIT: August 29, 2017, 4:24pm CT]

Stay tuned tonight! I'll be posting photos of the mystery Funko proto prize I received in the mail today for my Superfan feature!

[EDIT: August 29, 2017 11:29pm CT]

As promised, below are photos of the proto prize I received from Funko for my Superfan Spotlight on Legion of Collectors. It arrived today! I've included various photos of the prototype by itself and alongside the production version of the Pop for comparison.

They ended up sending me the prototype of the Teen Titans Robin dressed as Batman, a Toys 'R' Us exclusive. I love it so so so much. It's awesome seeing the proto next to the vibrant colors of the final product. The more I look at the final product, the more I love the paint job they used.

This is my first Funko prototype and I love that I know it's the real deal because it came straight from the source! It's so fun and adorable and "pure" if that makes sense. I am doubly glad that it's a Batman-related prototype! I know Legion of Collectors is all DC focused so I wasn't sure if they'd throw me a curveball with a non-Batman proto, but I guess the odds were in my favor considering the volume of Batman pops they crank out. ðŸ˜‚

Let me know what you think.

Legion of Collectors Batman: The Animated Series Box

IT'S HEEEEERE! This is my 3rd ever Legion of Collectors subscription box. You know I only ever opt-in when I know it's a Batman-themed box and they finally dropped a Batman: The Animated Series box! This version of Batman is my favorite ever so I couldn't say 'no.'

In case anybody is interested in nerdy DC Comics stuff and likes subscription boxes, Legion of Collectors, like many subscription box services, announces the theme of their boxes beforehand and you can easily buy one box and then opt out immediately so you only have to commit to something you know you'll like. In case you're interested, they've announced that the theme of next month's box is DC Villains. Unfortunately, it's not just focused on Batman villains like the previous box I purchased so I opted out, but it should still be a good one for any DC fan!

As for this BTAS box, it did not disappoint. I am happy with every. single. item. Granted, I'm such a huge BTAS fan that it would be hard to disappoint me in this case.

When you first open the box, you see a Joker patch and Catwoman pin. I'm not much of a patch or pin user so these are always just bonus items for me. I'm absolutely in love with Catwoman from this series, though, so I'm glad to see she was included in this box in some form.

As you open the box further, we see the little Funko Pop comic book that's custom created for each themed Legion of Collectors subscription. They also started including info cards that have some concept art or other details about the items in the box.

Unlike my previous box, this box also came with a shirt! When you subscribe, they ask you for a shirt size in case the box comes with a shirt. My 1st Legion of Collectors box (Batman v. Superman) did come with one but my 2nd box (Batman villains) came with a snapback cap instead. My first shirt was pretty big even for a small (I love to sleep in it) so I opted for an x-small this time. It's still not the most flattering size and cut for a small female, but I love the BTAS-inspired Funko Pop design on this shirt so much that I might cut it into something more flattering to wear on a regular basis. We'll see. Every time I take scissors to a shirt, ugly things happen. I'm just not very talented in the fashion department. Hah.

On to the toys, this box included a Dorbz. In fact, it's the first Dorbz Ridez to ever be included in a Legion of Collectors box. The collectible features Batman riding the iconic '90s animated Batmobile. I'm not much of Dorbz fan or collector, but I don't mind having this little guy as part of my overall Batman collection. I love this Batmobile so much. It's like a chubby scaled version of the original. 😂You can see my excitement in the video when I realize that the Dorbz actually comes out of the car. ðŸ˜Š

Finally, as I often like to mention, the real reason why I purchase these Legion of Collectors subscription boxes is for the exclusive Funko Pop. With the recent release of the Batman: The Animated Series Funko Pop series, we all knew this one was going to be a good one. It's the BTAS Mr. Freeze Funko Pop! I've been requesting this one on the Funko Facebook page for a while as many other fans have been and it seems our comments did not fall on deaf ears. My favorite part is Mr. Freeze's clear helmet, part of his gear that helps keep his body temperature below freezing. The helmet makes him pretty unique from the other Pops I own... and also super adorable.

I'm so glad I purchased this box. Personally, I don't know if they can ever top this box theme, but I'll just have to wait to see what other Batman themes they announce. I even loved the print on the inside of the box! I haven't recycled the box yet in case I come up with an idea for how to repurpose the pattern. Any ideas?

If you purchased this box, that did y'all think? If you're a DC Comics fan, what's a themed box that you would absolutely have to purchase if Legion of Collectors released it? Was this the one like it was for me? Or are you holding out for something else? ðŸ˜ƒ

Legion of Collectors Debut Box

I'm not a big fan of subscription boxes mostly because there are very few things, if anything at all, that I'd be interested in receiving on a monthly basis. These subscription services are getting out of hand. You can seriously subscribe to anything nowadays including cheese, wine, meals, shoes, clothes, toys, etc.

With that in mind, I totally got suckered into buying the debut box from Legion of Collectors thanks to the Armored Batman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Funko Pop that was guaranteed to be included.

It's just so cute! Look at it.

These subscription boxes are all DC Comics themed with new goodies every other month. They're currently going for $25 per box. They have a Marvel equivalent over at Collector Corps if that's more your speed. Legion of Collectors and Collector Corps are both powered by Funko Pop so if you're a big DC or Marvel Funko Pop collector, these might be right up your alley due to the exclusive nature of the Pops that come in these boxes.

Since this was my first ever subscription box, I decided to do an unboxing video. Check it out below. Before you ask, I thought about having a glass of whiskey with me for this first YouTube video, but it was Sunday evening when I recorded it and I wanted to be "responsible"... or something... since I had work on Monday. I think for any future videos, I'll make it a point to have a glass of whiskey with me just to keep my videos truly in line with the Batman and Whiskey theme. ;)

This box was Batman v Superman themed. Here's all that was included:

Legion of Collectors Wonder Woman patch and Legion of Collectors Superman pin

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Dorbz figures, Henry Cavill's Superman and Jason Mamoa's Aquaman (meow)

Vintage design Batman vs. Superman t-shirt. It's a size small, but it's a men's t-shirt so still really big.

Legion of Collectors Batman Superman comic

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Armored Batman Funko Pop!!!

These things are so friggin' cute.

I actually didn't care too much about anything other than the Funko Pop in this box since I'm almost strictly a Batman collector. I've since unsubscribed from Legion of Collectors. It's nice to know that their subscription only sends something every OTHER month in case that helps you decide whether or not it's for you. It was also extremely easy to cancel the subscription, no hassle whatsoever. If you're a fan of DC Comics in general and a fan of subscription boxes, this could be for you!

Legion of Collectors Batman Villains Box

I received my 2nd ever subscription box late last week. I resumed my Legion of Collectors subscription just for the Batman villains box knowing that everything I received would be Batman-related making it a pretty safe purchase for me. You all know how I feel about subscription boxes based on my first blog post on Legion of Collectors so the only reason I bought this box was because I KNEW it was all Batman-related. I spend enough money on toys that don't do anything as it is that I might as well be sure I'm a FAN of the toys that don't do anything that I buy.

Check out the unboxing video I did below!

It seems that a Legion of Collectors pin and patch are a constant in all or a lot of their boxes. For this particular box, they included a Bane patch and Riddler pin. I don't mind these items, but honestly could do without more patches and pins since I don't often use them in any capacity.

Funko Dorbz were also included in this subscription. In the Batman v. Superman box, they included a 2-pack with Superman and Aquaman. This time around, I received just the Two-Face Dorbz, which I didn't mind at all as I'm not much of a Dorbz collector. I'm not picky about Dorbz. He's pretty a-Dorbz-able, though. Harharhar. I'm sure I'm not the first one to make that joke. ðŸ˜¬

I believe, to compensate for only 1 Dorbz in this box, they added another item. There was a giant Funko Pop mug in the shape of the Joker's head in this box, something completely different from what I received in their subscription box previously. I feel like it's big enough to be more of a soup bowl, though. With that said, I'm sure I can find plenty of uses for this guy. I think I'll bring him to work with me!

Last time, I received a t-shirt, but it looks like this time around the t-shirt was replaced by a snapback cap featuring a Funko Pop version the Joker. I think I like the caps better than the t-shirts since the t-shirts aren't very flattering for girls. The clothing items are meant to be unisex so the shirt was pretty baggy. I can see myself wearing this cap more often probably even at SDCC 2017 (hopefully).

They also included another Legion of Collectors comic book. That reminds me that I haven't read the one that came with the Batman v. Superman box yet so my pile of "to read" items is growing. It looks like a quick, fun read, though, if I'm going to base things on their cover.

Lastly, of course, each box comes with an exclusive DC Legion of Collectors Funko Pop. For the Batman villains themed box, they provided a Catwoman in her purple and green costume from the 1940s. I'm pretty happy with this item since it's very different from any other Pop I own. I think the only other Catwoman I have/is available is the Anne Hathaway Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises. Plenty of subscribers were really hoping for a villain that's never been in Funko Pop form before, but I've honestly become a bit more apathetic about new Funko Pops due to the sheer volume so it didn't faze me as much. I'll probably start getting excited again once I get my hands on the Batman: The Animated Series Funko Pops. I already know they'll be my favorite Pops. No matter how many I have, I can't wait for those to come out and luckily they're in the works! Here's 1940s Catwoman in the mean time.

They've revealed that the theme for the next subscription box will be "DC Legacy," which will start shipping out after the holidays. Check out Legion of Collectors if you're interested in purchasing!

Bonus content, I've also made a few purchases at Hot Topic recently (surprise, surprise) and some of the items I bought include this adorable Batman ears headband and New 52 Harley Quinn Funko Pop!

I love the bat ears headband so much that I just wear it the entire time I'm at home. I actually have it on as I'm putting together this blog post... because why not. I can't imagine wearing it to work or anywhere outside of comic conventions, but it's being put to good use right now, that's for sure. If you were my co-worker, would you think I was weird for wearing them at work? 😬 Here's the link if you're interested in buying one for yourself: http://www.hottopic.com/product/dc-comics-batman-cutout-headband/10739224.html

The New 52 Harley Quinn is actually just one of maaaany new Funko Pops that have been added to my collection since my last blog post. Mickey somehow went on a Funko Pop shopping spree and surprised me with ~10+ new ones that I didn't already own. Spoiled. The volume of new Pops have me too overwhelmed to put together proper haul posts, but I will be sure to break down my Funko Pop collection for you in future blog posts as previously promised! Let's just say that we're officially out of shelf space.

Until then, have a very happy, wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy a whiskey cocktail, on the rocks, or neat and I'll talk to you soon! ❤️
