Mondo Batman: The Animated Series Volume 2 Vinyl Box Set

Mondo opened preorders for their Batman: The Animated Series Volume 2 vinyl box set back in July and I was able to snag one! There was a run of 1,800 and it looks like there are still some for sale if you'd like to grab one for yourself. Check out their website. My copy was supposed to arrive in October, but Mondo being Mondo, it just arrived earlier this month. Yes, delays could have possibly been due to the pandemic, but with Mondo's shipping record, I wouldn't have been surprised this happened either way. All that said, I'm so excited it's finally here! I love the blue and the details on the box cover with the Batmobile and view into the Bat Cave.

If y'all recall, I purchased the Mondo BTAS Volume 1 vinyl box set back in late 2015/early 2016. Check it out in a previous blog post here so you can compare. The episodes featured in Volume 1 include:
  1. Two-Face Part 1 / Two-Face Part 2
  2. On Leather Wings / Terror in the Sky
  3. Almost Got 'Im / The Man Who Killed Batman
  4. Heart of Ice / Deep Freeze
  5. Nothing to Fear / If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?
  6. Vendetta / Mudslide
  7. Joker's Favor / Harlequinade
  8. Beware the Gray Ghost / Fire From Mount Olympus
Volume 2 features the following episodes:
  1. Harley and Ivy / Pretty Poison
  2. The Last Laugh / Laughing Fish
  3. The Cat and the Claw Part 1 / The Cat and the Claw Part 2
  4. Mad as a Hatter / Perchance to Dream
  5. The Demon's Quest Part 1 / The Demon's Quest Part 2
  6. Birds of a Feather / I've Got Batman in My Basement
  7. Appointment on Crime Alley / It's Never Too Late
  8. The Shadow of the Bat Part 1 / The Shadow of the Bat Part 2
The art for Mad as a Hatter / Perchance to Dream and The Last Laugh / The Laughing Fish stood out as my favorites.

I also own prints of the art for the episodes "Perchance to Dream" and "Harley and Ivy" which were purchased during the Mondo Phanton City Batman: The Animated Series exhibit during SXSW 2018. You can read more about that in a previous blog post as well which you can find here.

The vinyls above also came with a set of 6 “Heroes of Gotham” 4x6 character cards.

There are actually 3 versions of these cards and you receive a random one when you purchase a box set. The other 2 versions have red markings that suggest Joker drew on them. You can see what those look like on Mondo's original listing.

That's everything! What do you think? What's your favorite out of these 8 vinyls?

Also, between Volume 1 and Volume 2, which did you prefer? See side by side images of the boxes below. I prefer the Volume 1 box which is a bit bigger and seems to have been put together with a bit more care (you can see the text on the spine of Volume 2 starts to wrap around the box a bit in the last image perhaps due to the size), but I think I'm leaning toward the artwork from Volume 2 overall. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
