Mondo Gallery: Batman 80th Anniversary Exhibit (May 2019)

2019 was so amazing in retrospect. I guess everything looks great compared to 2020, but 2019 was especially great because of all the travel I got to experience. Also, it was Batman's 80th Anniversary so I got to experience ALL of the Batman things like the Mondo exhibit for Batman's 80th Anniversary.

I'm sorry I'm sharing this content SO LATE, but I knew I'd get around to it eventually. It only took a pandemic. Hah... geeze, I can't wait for all of this to be over.

Anyway, check out pictures below of the artwork that was on display . This was in May 2019 (I know, I know). I actually enjoyed the Batman75th Anniversary Mondo exhibit better. I didn't make any purchases at their 80th Anniversary exhibit, but it was still 100% worth the trip. I was REALLY close to purchasing the artwork for A Death In the Family because it's such an iconic moment in comic book history. I was being judicious, though, because I still have so many pieces of art (including several from Mondo) that I've yet to frame and display. What is art if not to show off, right? Also a note, I visited on the last day of the exhibit so it was pretty quiet and some of the pieces were actually already sold out.

Browse below and let me know what your favorites are!

Speaking of Mondo, did you guys catch any of their Comic-Con/SDCC2020 releases? I grabbed a copy of the Batman: The Animated Series 8XLP Box Set - Volume 2. I can't wait to share it with you once I have it in my hands come October.

Batman x Achieve (Rooster Teeth) Collection (Batman 80th Anniversary)

I have a ton of content from Batman's 80th Anniversary last year that I never got to posting, but shelter-in-place gives you that opportunity to get around to stuff you never got around to so here we are!

I'm finally sharing the items I bought from the Batman x Achieve (Rooster Teeth) collection that came out last year for Batman's 80th Anniversary. These items actually came out soon after the other Batman x Rooster Teeth items that I posted in November.

First, the hat! I needed a solid, everyday black hat and this hat was perfect with the simple logo in the front and yellow patch in the back.

The sweater is HEFTY. It's probably the heaviest, thickest hoodie I have in the house and perfect for cold nights.

Finally, the long sleeve shirt is my most worn item.

...

Well, I mean I guess it was when I was still going out in public. I probably wear the hoodie more now that we're at home all the time. 😀

Check out the design details below. I think the lat/long coordinates are New York. 🤔  If anyone has any insight into the lat/long values, feel free to sound off in the comments.

If you're interested in seeing what the other items in the collection look like, check out this article: https://www.cbr.com/rooster-teeth-batman-clothing-line-announcement/.  I loved a lot of the other shirts, but I don't wear t-shirts often since they don't fit great on me so I couldn't justify buying more. If you're interested, though, the hat along with another shirt (that I don't own) are still available on their website. Check it out here:  https://store.roosterteeth.com/collections/achievement-hunter#/filter:ss_collection:DC.

Converse x Batman Collection (Batman 80th Anniversary)

Did you get your pair of Batman Chucks from their 80th Anniversary Collection? Check it out here.

I bought my favorite pair in the collection, the all over Batman symbol print. The print features logos throughout the years, which makes it a great set to have for Batman's 80th Anniversary this year. This one even comes in kids' sizes so I bought one for my friend's 3-year-old son. I couldn't resist because they're so stinkin' cute (both the shoes and my friend's son) and it was his birthday so it was just a good excuse to buy more Batman things.

Check out more photos of my shoes below and the clean box it came in. I love the "80" on the back of the right shoe and the Batman 80th Anniversary logo on the inside sole. Let me know which of the Batman Converses on their site are your favorite!

I love #Batman80, so much amazing Batman stuff on the market. But I'm not sure my wallet is much of a fan. #LongLivetheBat

Batman Beyond Deluxe Limited Edition on Blu-ray and Digital

My copy of Batman Beyond was shipped to me last month and I know all my fellow Batman fans have seen pictures of other people's copies floating around already, but of course I had to share mine!

I purchased my copy from Amazon, which people who really care about the outer packaging should be weary of. My copy of Batman Beyond arrived in much better condition than my copy of Batman: The Animated Series but there were was still a squished corner which you can see below in the first image (top left corner of the box). The Funko Pop packaging inside the main box was also mysteriously ripped. There was no indication of how it ripped so it just leads me to believe that it was ripped before it was even packaged. So weird. All that aside, the packaging is still really nice.

Since these are limited edition, similar to Batman: The Animated Series on Blu-Ray, all packages were marked with a number. Mine was marked 46,881 of 50,000. If you purchased one, what number did you get?

The Blu-ray set came with a very reflective Batman Beyond Funko Pop in the signature Batman 80th Anniversary black box. I stopped collecting Funko Pops earlier this year so this is my first Funko Pop in the black box, which I have to admit I really like. You can see the mysterious tear on the front of the Funko box in the first photo below. Boo, Amazon. Based on the way Amazon responded to the previous uproar over the way they handled Batman: The Animated Series shipments, I figured it wasn't worth it to bring it up with them. It's kind of a bummer because their customer service is usually so great. Overall, though, this Funko Pop is a fun one and it's so reflective that there's just no hiding myself in the reflection as I'm taking photos of it. What are your thoughts on the Pop?

The Blu-rays also came with 4 collectible lenticular cards (kind of reminds me of holographic images) featuring some of the Batman Beyond animation art.

The best and most important part of this order, of course, are the Blu-rays themselves. Check out the packaging below. It includes a Blu-Ray and digital copy of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker too, which I'd say is my 2nd favorite Batman animated movie behind Batman: Under the Red Hood. You can see some of the villains from the series featured on the actual Blu-Rays discs and other packaging, but I'm a little bit bummed that Inque, one of my favorite Batman Beyond villains, isn't featured anywhere on any of this stuff at all. What gives?

I'm still in the middle of getting Mickey, my husband, through all of Batman: The Animated Series, but will absolutely be making him watch all of Batman Beyond with me right after. It's been so long since I've watched these (even though I own it all on DVD) so I'm looking forward to rewatching all the things I've forgotten.

If you're interested in purchasing your own copy and you're concerned about the packaging, definitely try ordering from Warner Bros. instead. Amazon is 0 for 2 at this point. Yikes. If you do order yourself a copy, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
